Siri and other voice recognition apps

春节在家闲着，也没什么事儿可写。和每年这个时候一样，走亲访友之类的。

昨天晚上突然来了兴致，对着手机和iPad说话听写。虽然用iPhone几年了，但那时候还没有Siri，iPad也是第一代的。现在更新设备才有了Siri。

于是贯穿着大半个寒假，我都在是不是的对着他们说话。我用的是美国英文的设置，虽然已经支持中文了，但觉得那声音很生硬，再来用英语还能锻炼一下口语。去年我已经下决心我这口音就是美式的算了，已经改不了了……虽然还是那么不甘心……

用了Siri，或者说在这之前用Google的语音识别的时候我已经发觉，自己的英语还有差距。即使历来都被老师们说发音不错，可总是还有那么几个音不标准。这种不标准有时候很难发现，比容两个很相近的音，听起来像一个音，唯一的区别就是发音时的口形。就是这口型决定了你的发音表不标准，即使这个音“听起来”一样的。也许一般的英语老师也不会察觉，但母语的人应该会注意到这区别的。昨晚折腾了一宿于是完成了这篇用Siri听写的笔记。

我只是想说“I need to watch that video again”，这个video总是识别不出来，有听成we do的，还有radio……我又用Google translate和Google试了一遍，半斤八两而已，都是这个情况。最后猛然一想自己把video的v发成w了，回头再一试，100%正确。

v和w放在这个词中区别并不大（当然口型有区别）：“wideo”或video对于大多数中国人来说发音是一样的，分辨不出来。但恰恰像Siri或者Google Now之类的语音助手却能够分辨出这两者的区别，所以识别的时候才会出现这样的事情。可以说这种识别的细腻程度超出了我的想象，算是算法的胜利吧。这也是为什么他们都推荐用户用自己的母语来使用语音助手的原因。要知道母语中一些很平常的东西在其他人看来就相当不平常。

不过对于进阶的外语学习者来说，用这个提高自己的口语的确是一个非常好的方法。
